As a company, we’re committed to reducing environmental harm. We’ve long promoted green projects that conserve natural resources and reduce our carbon footprint. Internally, we practice what we preach with initiatives to reduce our own impact in the workplace.
We recently determined that, as a company, we could be doing even more. We’ve opted to take it to the next level by going blue through Vulcan Blue — a companywide program that aims to reduce our impact on the environment, particularly local watershed and ocean habitats.
Through the program, we’re coming together as a community and team to take action. Initiatives so far include improvements to current company procedures like recycling and composting in the office, upgrading to zero-emission vehicles for company travel, offering lunchtime environmental education sessions and organizing company-wide volunteering days. In the summer of 2015, Vulcan employees worked with Puget Soundkeeper Alliance
to remove trash from Lake Union, pulling over 200 lbs of trash from the water and shoreline. We know that by making small changes as a large group, together we can greatly improve the health of our community and our world.
