BENEFITS & PERKS
Medical Insurance: Employees may select from three medical plans: a Regence Blue Shield PPO Plan, a Regence CDHP/HSA Plan or Group Health's HMO plan. Coverage begins the first day of employment. With the CDHP/HSA Plan, the company pays all employee and dependent premiums.
Dental Insurance: Vulcan pays a percentage of premiums for employees and their eligible dependents through Washington Dental Service. The plan includes 100 percent preventative, 80 percent basic and 50 percent major dental coverage. Coverage begins the first day of employment.
Vision Insurance: Vulcan pays a percentage of premiums for employees and their eligible dependents for vision insurance. Plans vary according to employee selection of medical carrier. Coverage begins the first day of employment.
401(k) Plan: Employees may contribute 1 percent to 75 percent of tax-deferred or post-tax salary into 16 investment options. Vulcan will match $.50 on every dollar an employee contributes up to the federal maximum. If an employee is deemed to be a Highly Compensated Employee, as defined by IRS guidelines, there may be restrictions on participating in this plan during the first year of employment.
Vacation: An employee is eligible for two weeks per year for the first four years; three weeks for years 5-9; and four weeks thereafter. Vacation leave accrues each pay period and carries over from year to year up to twice the annual accrual.
Illness Absence: An employee is eligible for nine days per year. Illness absence is awarded annually. Unused time may be carried over from year to year to a maximum of 12 weeks.
Personal Days: An employee is eligible for two personal days per year. Personal days do not carry over from year to year. Employees who begin work at Vulcan before July 1 will receive two personal days in their first year of employment. Employees who begin work after July 1 will receive one personal day. Two additional personal days will be allotted on January 1 of the year in which an employee celebrates his/her third anniversary with the company.
Paid Holidays: An employee will receive six paid holidays annually: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. In addition to the holidays, Vulcan provides paid time off for the day after Thanksgiving and the weekdays between December 25 and January 1.
Tuition Reimbursement: Vulcan provides tuition reimbursement for company-approved, job-related education after six months of employment.
Transportation Allowance: 505 Union Station employees receive $100 per month toward the cost of parking, or toward a bus, rail or ferry pass. Benefits begin the first day of employment.
Health Club Membership: The company will cover the costs associated with an employee's family membership. This includes a one-time initiation fee and up to $140 per month to cover dues for a HR-approved health club or personal trainer.
Life and AD&D: The benefits plan provides employee with two times his/her annual pay (maximum $500,000) in life insurance and two times his/her annual pay (maximum $500,000) in AD&D coverage.
Supplemental and Dependent Life Insurance: Additional life insurance is available for employee and eligible dependents at group rates.
Short-Term Disability: All full-time employees automatically receive short-term disability insurance (STD). STD will cover up to 60 percent of an employee's base salary earnings.
Long-Term Disability: The voluntary LTD program allows for an approximate 60 percent salary continuance—up to $15,000 monthly—after a 90-day waiting period.
Flexible Benefit Plan: Employees may defer tax-free dollars into health care and/or dependent care benefit accounts, as well as a Section 132 Transportation Account. Post-tax dollars may be used to establish a tax-deferred 529 College Savings Plan through payroll direct deposit.
Employee Assistance Program: This program provides legal assistance, childcare referrals, elder care referrals or assessments and emergency family counseling.
Financial Institutions: We offer our employees memberships to the Watermark Credit Union, and corporate plan benefits with Wells Fargo Bank.
Domestic Partners: Medical and dental benefits are offered to domestic partners who qualify under the plan.
Professional Memberships Allowance: We provide for manager-approved, job-related memberships for all employees.
Vulcan Athletic Club: The company has its own private athletic facility at 505 Union Station, which is free for all Vulcan employees.
VIBE Program: Our wellness program promotes involvement, balance and enrichment through companywide challenges and events. Through VIBE, you can also get free annual biometric testing, customized wellness plans, access to health coaches, and rewards for reaching milestones.
Dry Cleaning: A local dry cleaning company picks up clothing at Vulcan on Tuesdays and returns the cleaned items each Friday. Employees who set up accounts get their own laundry bags and ID tags, and fees are charged to a credit card.
Package/Courier Service: Vulcan's Shipping and Receiving team provides convenient letter, package handling and courier dispatch to employees mailing personal items. Any postage or delivery fees are deducted from the employee's paycheck.
Special Events: Employees are occasionally given the opportunity to participate in special events in the community through the company.
Employee Holiday Party: Each December, Vulcan hosts a holiday gathering for its employees. This festive event is a time to celebrate the year's accomplishments.
Friday Casual Dress: When Friday rolls around at Vulcan, so do a lot of blue jeans and Hawaiian-print shirts. Feel free to get casual and comfortable, as long as your outfit is appropriate for any meetings you have that day.
Great Food: Vulcan's headquarters are in the International District, surrounded by dozens of excellent restaurants. Whether it's Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Philippine or Hawaiian cuisine you like, you'll find excellent options within a few minutes' walk. The renowned Uwajimaya grocery and food court is right across the street.
Downtown Location: Located in the Chinatown-International District on the border of Pioneer Square, Vulcan is headquartered at the crossroads of vibrant, eclectic neighborhoods. The underground bus system just outside our front door can take you swiftly to downtown shops and restaurants. CenturyLink Field is right across the street, and Safeco Field is just a stroll away if you want to take in an evening game.
